Our weekend will be full of celebrating. The next few days will be busy, with preparations for celebrations already beginning. I'm getting tired just thinking about it!
On Saturday we will be having a family gathering to celebrate Bob's mother's 80th birthday...which isn't really until the 7th...but we decided a weekend party would be better...and the 4th didn't work out for some...and the 5th actually isn't the best for everybody...but we finally had to set a date. And the 5th it is! Confusing? I hope those invited aren't confused & show up!
So, I have lots to do to get ready for the Colbert Clan! We are planning on about 30 to 35 people showing up. Thankfully, we have Bob's Car Shop that has lots of room & we are able to party out there! Hopefully all of the little kiddies will keep their sticky fingers off of Papaw's cars!!! Pictures will be posted early next week after I have a chance to catch my breath.
Through the years we have attended many Late Great & Classic Chevy Car Conventions and most of them have been during the July 4th weekend. We've celebrated the 4th in several different states and it seems a little strange to be home this weekend. The clubs have combined and are changing, the group is aging, and some old Chevy guys are no longer able to attend and a few have sadly passed away. This years convention is in Connecticut. Bob knew when that location was announced that he didn't want to pull a double car trailer over the mountains that many miles away.
So, we're home! And if it doesn't rain late tonight, perhaps we will get to see fireworks over Columbus for a change.
And a good note about Shirley. She is doing remarkable well for such major surgery!
Have a happy & safe 4th of July!
God Bless the USA!!!!!!!
